ilKhan Certificate

This certificate was presented to Ronald Corcoran at the 1994 SuperNova Tournament held annually in Washington, D.C. Below he recalls his battles that he won that earned him the above certificate.

In this battle I piloted a Dire Wolf "A". My opponents were piloting an Executioner "C", a Stormcrow "A", and a Warhawk "D". I hit the Warhawk pilot in the head with a Large Pulse Laser and penetrated his cockpit. The pilot then decided to go prone in a river to avoid more fire, unfortunately his head armour was breached and this destroyed his 'Mech. The next victim was the Stormcrow, an unbelievable string of luck occured as all of my weapons hit the center torso in a single round. The final adversary was a bit more difficult. The Executioner pilot was much more experienced than the previous two. He utilized terrain far better and used cover and concealment to maneuver in for better shots. I was able to whittle away at his armour while he attempted to close, at the same time he was damaging my left leg with incredible accuracy. Eventually he took off my left leg. I fell and he closed in for the kill. As an act of desperation I stood my 'Mech up on its one good leg and fired everything I had into the oncomming 'Mech. The three large lasers hit the torso's and the SRM's splattered all over his 'Mech. The gauss rifle however found its mark for the perfect killing shot. The Head!!! What a finish to the first round. Neither I nor my fellow chapter members thought I was going to make it. But I did and it was off the the final round.

The final round had five candidates. After much needed repairs I piloted my Dire Wolf "A". My opponents piloted a Timber Wolf "A", Timber Wolf "Primary", Dire Wolf "A", and a Warhawk "D". In this round I was able to destroy the Warhawk "D" with a guass rifle shot to the head at 21 hexes. What a stunner. The crowd around the table called it the luckiest shot they'd ever seen. I doubt that, but it worked. After destroying the Warhawk I decided to head for higher ground. I climbed up a hill and waited for my next victim. A Timber Wolf "A" came into my LOS and I decided to open fire. My gauss rifle missed its mark, but the three large pulse lasers were true scoring two hits to the center torso and one on the left arm. One center torso hit was a snake-eyes, critical potential. I rolled a nine and got one critical. I hit an engine shielding unit. Oh well, I was hoping for a gyro hit. Well, the next moments in that battle are a little fuzzy. All I remember was a bright flash and then darkness. My fellow Clansmen told me that the Timber Wolf fired it's ER PPC into my 'Mechs head. I don't have any memory of this but I know I woke up the next morning dazed in a field hospital bed with my LoreMaster sitting next to me. He was adding my previous days battles to my Codex and claiming it as a victory for the Bloodline of Chistu and Clan Jade Falcon. Perhaps he is right, being a Khan of Clan Jade Falcon is an honour and a privilage. Although, truth be known, I would rather have the title, ilKhan.
